NARAIL. May 4: The number of primary students is on decrease in rural and urban areas of the district due to acute poverty, reports UNB.

A good number of children who got themselves admitted into the government primary schools to get new books’free of cost and wheat under the Food for Education programme left the school after few months of their admission.

In many areas. Food for Education Programme could not be introduced which is the main attraction of the poor families.

According to a survey conducted bv an NGO. many children six to ten age group left primary schools of the three thanas of the district to work in the paddy fields, factories, restaurants or mobile workshops to earn their bread.
