The Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) yesterday demanded immediate announcement of dearness allowances as well as expediting the work of the fifth wage board for journalists, press worlters and newspaper employees, reports BSS

The demand came from a Joint emergency meeting of BFUJ executive committee members present in the city and extended meeting of DUJ at the Jatiya Press Club. BFUJ president Amanullah Kabir presided over the largely attended meeting, said a press release.

The meeting warned that if the dearness allowance was not declared immediately then tbe journalists would be forced to chalk out a greater movement for realisation of it along wfth^the fifth wage board

The meeting also expressed concerned at the harassment of the journalists In different newspapers and demanded immediate stoppage of it.

The meeting also reviewed tbe latest situation of Dhaka based newspapers and news agencies and asked all concerned to make regularise the payments of wages
