JUST after two to three weeks the World Cup Cricket is going to start. Everybody's eyes are on Pakistan, India and Sri-Lanka. Fans are just counting their days for the big event.
When the World Cup is going to start nobody will be interested in the cricket league that is going on in Dhaka. However with each day passing the premier division cricket is becoming more and more interesting. After the synthetic turf placed In Dhaka Stadium our cricket level is reading its aspired height. This tun for Bangladeshi players is a good practise since in 1997's ICC cricket, which will be held in Malaysia, will be played in this sort of turf.
The premier division cricket is now in its highest entirtaining form. Everyone
is thinking who will win the most prestigious of all cups. Abahani initially was in a very good position, but after losing two consecutive matches they are now on the backseat. They lost both the matches due to inexperienced Duijoy.
Duijoy who is a young but talented player became captain in place of Akram Khan, who was absent. The match against Victoria in which Abahani lost for 20 runs in the last over, was because Duijoy let Dulo bowl the last over, instead of a more experience bonder.
In the case of Mohammedan. it is another story. They went down for to Gulshan youth and Wari. Mohammedan showed very poor batting against this two teams. While Abahani. and Mohammedan are fighting
out for the cup. pressure is coming from Biman, Kalabagan and Brothers Union. They are keeping a constant pressure against this two teams. Most of the time Dhaka league is full of international players like — Arjuna Ranatunyo, Samara Sakera, Ashok Mathotrn, Wasim Akram. Neil Fairbrother and many others.
This year there is a lack of intemation players because of the world cup. and many other reasons. Now let us see the problems concerning the Dhaka league. The first problems are with the umpires. Nobody is happy, the way the Umpires are handling the matches. That's why two Pakistani Umpires are coming to Bangladesh to direct important matches.

dium is a batting pitch, that's why many big scores have been made here. We should not forget our destination the 1997 ICC Cup Cricket where we must win to keep our hopes alive in going to the world cup.
After a few weeks the super league is going to start with six teams. There the main championship fight will take place. In February the MCCI of Australia (which has produced some of the best cricketers of Australia) will come to Bangladesh. Here it is worth to mention that they are an extremely strong team, and they are not like West Indies under 19 team. They will play some matches against our local hits, and if Bangladesh can win. the people can only their say yes our country has really improved.
