Awami League President । Sheikh Hasina has congratulated the people for what she ‘ said making the 72-hour hartal a success

Hasina in a statement last night, also condemned and protested the attack' on Opposition activists at different places In the country by ter-rorists and police during the hartal period.

Tin- h.irta' was called In I demand fur immediate resignation of the Prime Minister, protection of democracy and general elections under a caretaker government and, protesting price hike of essentials.

She said that the present crisis could be solved only by holding general elections under a caretaker government.

The current agitation against the government will continue until the people's demand is met. the AL chief said.

Hasina said all political parties except BNP. have de c|ded not to participate in elections under the present government.

She alleged that instead of accepting the people's demand. the government was leading the country towards anarchy and disorder. Armed groups were resorting to terrorist activities under the protection of the rulers, she added.

She further said a number of her party activists were injured in terrorist attacks during the hartal period.

Hasina said people would resist the election if BNP wanted to hold it without a caretaker government.
