Leonine Chess Club remained in the second position of the First Division chess league

standings at the end of round eight yesterday at the chess room of the Bangladesh Chess Federation.

Leaders Mohammedan Sporting Club were rested in the day’s round.

Leonine recorded a 3-1 victory over Anushilan Daba Krira Chakra. Leonine’s two Indians — IM Lanka Ravi and IM Poma Sharma Mltrakanth — and local player Rafiqul Islam won their respective boards against Sharfuddin Reza Hai. Adnan Faisal and Abu Suflan Shakfl of Anushilan. The only win for Anushilan came through Syed Mah-fuzur Rahman Imon who beat Farid Ahmed to earn his team's lone point of the day.

With yesterday's victory. Leonine raised their tally to 26.5 points from eight matches, still one point adrift of frontrunners MSC who have played seven matches and earned 27.5 points.

Third placed Biman had a clean sweep yesterday when they out played Farashganj Sporting Club 4-0.

National champion IM Reefat Bin-Sattar of Blman and his teammate former national champion IM Ziaur Rahman beat Mlzanur Rah man and Shahadat Hossain of Farashganj respectively. In the other two boards. Blman s Khandkar Kayes Hasan defeated Shawkat Hossain while Rezaul Haque blanked Ahmed Hossain Majumdar With the alm. Biman extended their tally to 23.5 points and remained in the third place with a 1.5 points lead over Dhaka University chess team who have 22 points to their name after their yesterday’s 2.5-1.5 victory over Pradeep Sangha.
