KUSHTIA. Sep 8: A torch light procession was Iwought out by shop owners association of Kushtia town on Wednesday in protest against acute load shedding which is being continuing for last one month causing severe inconvenience to the town dwellers and shopowners particularly the students community.

The procession paraded the main streets of the town chanting various slogans condemning the electricity authority who have failed to provide power In time

of need particularly during the evening.

A few days back the shopowners held a meeting and decided to gherao the Resident Engineers office and power house If they do not increase supply in the evening. The shopowners submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner containing their grievances.

When contacted the local electricity authority told this correspondent that severe rationing of the power has compelled them to shut down whenever order from the higher authority comes

They say that total re qulrement of power in Kushtia in the evening is 28 rnw while they are provided with only 8 to 12 mw and In daytime their requirement is 24 mw but that get only 16 mw. ,
