BARISAL. Aug 7: The two-day seminar on "Japanese rha-nagement” ended here yesterday with a call to the entrepreneurs to apply the acquired management techniques in their respective organisations. reports BSS.

Held under the aegis of the Dhaka office of the Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship (AOTS) of Japan in collaboration with the Barisal Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Opsonin Group the seminar was attended by 65 persons belonging to business and industrial establishments.

Tlie seminar dwelt at length all aspects of the Japa nese management such as employer-worker relations. 5-S (five basic foundation of the Japanese management). QC (Quality Control) circle (functioning of small groups at workers level). CWQC (Cdmpany-Wide Quality Control). TQM (Total Quality Control and JIT (Just in Time)

Speakers at the concluding ceremony emphasised

the need lor following the excellent Japanese manage ment technique as it was one of the main factors which contributed to the tremen dous development of that country.

They said Japan originally borrowed the management technique from America but developed it further In its own cultural and socio-eoc-nomic background. They said the Americans are now com Ing to Japan to learn the Japanese technique of management.

Capt (Retd) A Sabur Khan. Vice Chairman of Opsonin Group was the chief guest at

the closing ceremony.

Dr AKM Moazzem Hussain. in his speech, elaborated various activities of AOTS and said it would continue to contribute Its endeavours to transfer technology from Japan to Bangladesh through inviting experts and through those persons who received higher education and training In Japan.

He said AOTS has organ ised this seminar here as part of its programme to hold seminars and workshops in all divisional headquarters Earlier it held such progra mines In Dhaka. Chittagong. Khulna and Rajshahi.
