CHUANDANGA. Aug 7: The Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) estate is yet to be set up in the district in spite of its much potentiality, reports UNB.

There are enough necessary raw materials here to feed small scale industries and there are ample cheap labour force, good road and rail communication.

1 Raw materials like potato.' banana, tomato, jute, wheat, pulses and betel leaf are produced in abundance here. However, farmers can not preserve these perishable items for future use in absence of storage facilities and other utility services.

Earlier, an advisory council was formed In 1987 with a view to set up BSCIC estate and a large number of local entrepreneurs expressed their desire to set up small scale industries but it could not be materialised as yet.

Meanwhile, about one lakh people, male and female. are passing their days without any job opportunities. They may be absorbed in small industrial units.

However, about 40 BSCIC estates have been established at various parts of the country with the financial assistance from the Asian Development Bank.
