RSSStSMif. Aug 7: More than two hundred students of Rajshahi University today gheraoed Vice Chancellor Prof M Yusuf All at his office and gave him a seven-day ultimatum to re-open the university.

In a memorandum submitted to the VC. the students also warned that they would launch a vigorous movement if the university is not reopened by August 14.

The university was closed sine die for the second time this year following a fierce gun battle between activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) and Islaml Chhatra Shiblr on July 22. The university was re opened on May 31 after more than three months' unscheduled closure.

The students under the banner of Rajshahi University General Students Council (RUGSC) also announced that thev would go for an action programme including hunger strike and formation of hu man chain from August 16 If the authorities fall to re-open the university by August 14.
