NEW YORK. May 4: Five in vestment banks are studying the possibility of selling the world trade centre, whose 110-storey twin towers are a symbol of US business. New York Newsday reported on Wednesday, says Reuter.

The newspaper said documents il obtained revealed that Goldman. Sachs and Co, Merrill Lynch and Co. Morgan Stanle^ and Co, Bear. Stearns and Co and Chemical' Securities Inc were asked to examine "the various options, including disposition" of the centre. z

It said George Marlin, the new Executive Director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey that owns and manages six of the seven buildings in the complex, had requested the proposals in late March.
