MOULVIBAZAR Apr 3 : Finance Minister M Salfur Rahman asked the opposition par-lies, not to obstruct the movement of fertilizer and foodgrains in the name of hartal and siege, reports UNB.

He regretted that the opposition parties were trying to complicate the artificial fertiliser crisis through their "anti-people" programmes like hartal, siege and so on

The Minister was inaugural ing a new branch of Bangladesh Krishi Bank at Sh-erpur in the district on Saturday.

For the last four years, the present government had been

trying hard for the economic emancipation of the people through various development-oriented programmes, he observed.

Saifur Rahman mentioned that in the current financial year Tk 4.000 crore had been allocated for the development of education alone.

He said 10 thousand primary schools had been brought under the epoch-making food for education programme of the government. All primary schools of the country would be brought under the educa tion expansion cum poverty alleviation programme of the government, the Minister added.

Speaking on the occasion. Advocate Ebadur Rahman. MP. said he Joined the BNP only to detach himself from the "anti-people hartal and siege programmes of the opposition '.

Presidium member of the Ganotantrik Party Gulzer Ahmed also formally announced in the meeting his Joining the ruling party.

Later in the day. addressing a public meeting at Bhagerhat in Rajan agar thana, the Finance Minister stressed the need for bringing discipline and responsibility in national politics.

"Indiscipllned and selfseeking politics would bring no good for the nation and the people." he said.
