LONDON. Feb 1: Hungary, a major power in swimming, has invited the International Swimming Federation (FINA) to carry out dope tests at Hungarian training camps in the United States and South Africa, reports Reuter

The Hungarian Olympic Committee sent a letter invit ing FINA to carry out tests on their swimmer and publicised the unusual initiative in a faxed copy of the letter on Tuesday

Hungary have produced great champion in the past few years, including Olympic gold medallists Tamas Darnyi and Krisztina Egerszegi and world champion Norbert Rozsa

"The Hungarian Olympic Committee has declared a consistent war on all prohib ited increase of performance committee president Pal Sch mitt and Hungarian Swimming Federation president Tams Gyarfas said in the joint letter to FINA president Mustapha Lariaoui

The Hungarian swimmers, who belong to the elite of the world, are performing their preparations creditably, fairly and clearly and participate in competitions in this spirit

"However, due to their outstanding results and success, certain circles have questioned i heir being clear

May we here with extend a kind invitation to the medical commission of FINA to visit these training camps, and If they wish, carry out some doping controlling tests." the letter said.
