The Prime Minister started the rural telecommunication by making a call from here to President Abdur Rahman Biswas Ui Dhaka

While inaugurating the rural telecom the Prime Minister thanked the people of the locality and said the beginning of this modern system would enable the people of this area to directly communicate with others both at home and abroad. The system, she said, would also speed up business activities.

Under the arrangements the subscribers will be able to talk and receive calls in rural areas from any part of the country and outside the country.

The system is being implemented through wireless.

Post and Telecommunications Minister Tariqul Islam was present on the occasion.
