A meeting of the Awami League Presidium yesterday resolved that the solution to political crisis lay in the dlsao Jut Ion of the present illegal Parliament and holding of a fresh general elections under a non party caretaker govern ment.

The meeting, held al the party's centra] office with party chief Sheikh Hasina in the chair, said the Fifth Parlla ment elected under a care taker administration with the ruling BNP bagging 31 per cent votes and the combined Opposition 69 per cent votes had become illegal and none* istent foUowtng the en masse resignation of lawmakers rep resenting the majority voters

"The persisting political stalemate has been caused due to the BNP's lust for power and the crisis will further deepened if the government continues to cling to power by ignoring the constitutional measures.' read the resolution

It accused Khaleda Zia of violating the country's Constitution now and then although she was althrough speaking of protecting and upholding it and claiming to adopt con •titutional measures to deal with the present situation

She Was indiscriminately violating and disregarding dif Irrent Articles and Clauses of the Constitution she took oath Io protect, support and follow

In this regard, the resolu tion referred to certain Articles and Clauses of the ConsUtutton that it alleged the BNP government violated by snatching , people > rights to vote. food, fob by denying Jus tier to them, by repressing the Opposition political activista and members o( different professional groups by not scrapping rather enacting black laws. Violating accords with various communities, ignoring the sovereign Parliament and leaving it inoperative.

The meeting called upon the people to observe the three day half day hartal in the city beginning tomorrow to force the BNP government step down to pave the way for fresh general polls ufider a t-aretaker administration.
