A section of the politicians being insensitive to the Implications of their own political adventurism (according to this non-polltlcian and VIP voter — have the voters no rank and status in this country?), it is heartening to find some newspaper readers who appear concerned enough to write to the editors, reacting publicly to the styles of the Iwo leaders. While one is trying to rouse the public conscience for hartal. street agitation, and disruption (in the country's Interest!). and the other is pleading for pushing ahead with arrear development work in a harmonious environment, to ensure that the Parliament may not be let for rent (say as a site for blah. blah. blah).

It might be a subtle point to note that this problem (the public fight of the woman leaders! may be beyond politics. It is time we have some expert commentaries form non-politician experts in other human field* to enlighten the

citizens, and to offer some sane advice to the two national leaders to lead the country in the right and In the same direction, without pulling with opposing forces.

Some men feel that the male ego is feeling the pinch. In Sri Lanka also, the two national leaders In the opposite camps are women. We are not

advancing towards a matriarchal society, but the males must be thinking aloud about face-saving devices, as they feel apparently side-tracked by the wiles of the Eve.

At the stag parties there appears to be a tacit understanding that In future two females must not rule a nation

from the opposite camps. Not that the women lack grace and rhythm, but in cases such as the above, they upset the rhythm of the society. The Commonwealth Is now trying to woo them to come to an amicable compromise not harmful to the nation in the years of come.

There is another problem

with the human beings : the very presence of the heart and the head. There is no option to this double presence, as none is available singly. One cannot be separated from the other. At any one point of time. It Is unpredictable which one will win an argument, or create trouble — for first, second or

third parties. The heart has Its reasons, and the head has Its logic: and sometimes both work in water-tight compartments in the land of floods as well as in dry countries. It is irrelevant to complain, because It is a part of human life. How far which part should dominate in the public domain is an Interesting question for the debaters.

Irrationality plays A major part in our daily lives, if we honestly analyse our private decision-making processes: as our actions and Judgments are mostly based on sentiments, likes and dislikes, love and hate, emotional motivations pride and prejudice, saving face or rank, status and symbols.

Philosophically speaking, leaders come and go. but the country and the Janata remain We are climbing out of the bottomless basket, and have not been thrown out from the heavens above. So why fight al core level with marginal issues?
