Leading personalities from the film industry, university teachers and students marched through the city in a colourful procession yesterday in support of sound movies, reports UNB.

Chairman of UNB Amanullah Khan, noted filmmaker MA Samad. Chairman of the Linguistics Department of Dhaka University Dr Rajeeb Humayun. Film Directors Kazi Hayat and Aziz Meher and Deputy Registrar of Dhaka University Mohammad Selim took part in the procession.

The procession, accompanied by musical band and two horse carriages, was staged on the second day of a four-day National Film Festival, arranged by the Dhaka University Film Society to create awareness among the public for good and healthy movies.

Wearing T-shirts, headgears and waving flags, banners, festoons and posters, the marchers chanted various slogans in favour of good films.

The carnival was staged to breathe a fresh air amidst violence and terrorism that so often marks the Dhaka University campus life

The processionists marched through the roads from TSC and terminated at the National Press Club.
