Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia yesterday urged the people to send their children to schools and let them complete their studies without interruption, reports UNB.

Her call for increasing enrolment and reducing the dropout rate in schools came at a spontaneous gathering at Uttara when she visited some educational institutions on the occasion of the International Literacy Day.

The Prime Minister paid the visit in the morning to the Kanchkura Government Primary School. Kanchkura High School. Kanchkura College and Uttara Anwa/a Model Degree College. .

The Dakkin Khan Kanchkura Government Primary School, established in 1936 and renqyated in 1992. was caught unaware as she drove to the village school.

Begum Zia straightway went to a classroom (Class HI) and talked to the students and teachers.

The Prime Minister asked the students various questions and advised them to concen trate on their studies. She also enquired about teachers' attendance In school from the students.

Begum Zia also visited the teachers' room of the Kanch kura school and made queries on attendance of teachers and students. She found some stu dents do not come to schools regularly.

The Prime Minister directed the sch6ol authorities to talk to their guardians to ensure regular attendance of their children. "It necessary, go to their house? to find out causes of their absence." she said.

On her way back to her office. the Prime Minister stopped at the Uttara Anwara Model Degree College, talked with the students and enquired .about their studies.
