Title contenders Abahani Krlra Chakra rediscovered their winning touch after one match when they registered a convincing 3-0 victory ovtr Arambagh Krlra Sangha in one of the two Star Premier Division football league matches played at the Dhaka Stadium yesterday, Abahani. who were forced to a 1-1 draw with Wart Club in their second match, regained their rhythm yesterday and led the first half by two spectacular goals from their Iraqi recruit Nazar All Hossain.

Golam Gaus, the dapper Abahani winger though far below his zigzaggy bekt scored the third goal for his side three minutes before the long whistle.

Abahani's Iraqi coach Samir Shakir did quite a few strategic changes which brought dividends for the sky blues. He placed Partha, a regular right back Just in front of the four backs as a defensive medio in place of the more’ attacking Zakir.

Jasslm Mehdi who has been shuttled in and out of the first eleven was in the starting team and operated down the flank from deep to provide width.

Gaus, the nippy left Winger who normally carries the responsibility of opening rival defences was left out of the starting eleven and only came after a veteran Aslam appeared to have run out of steam in the second half.

Arambagh who hold Brothers Union one of the three traditional powerhouse of local , football-to a 1-1 draw in their previous match, got an easy chance five minutes after the breather. But Sohel shot wide from Inside the box with the Abahani custodian Dhanu at his mercy.

Five minutes later Nazar Ali was deprived of his treble when his powerful right footer was brilliantly fisted away by Milon for a corner.

Gaus who sealed the fate of the match In the 87th minute couldn't believe his eyes when his left-footer from outside the box sailed Into the net over the head of an out-of-position Milon after being deflected of an Arambagh defender (3-0).

With this win Abahani jointly share the lead with their traditional rivals Mohammedans. both collecting five points from three matches while Arambagh suffered their first defeat to remain at two points from two successive draws.

SATTAR’S HATTRICK

In the other match of the day. Sattar scored a hattrick to guide Fakirerpool Youngmen's Club to a thumping 5-1 win over Bangladesh Boys.

Fakirerpool who held defending champions Mohammedan SC in their previous match 1-1. totally outclassed the Gopibagh outfit in an onesided encounter to register their first victory.

Sattar scored in the 43rd. 48th and 80th minutes to complete the third hattrick in the league after Kazakov of Mohammedan and Ranjan of Brothers Union.

Askar Khan Babu and Asif were the other scorers for the winners while Badal Das netted the consolation for the losers.

The win left Fakirerpool with three points from as . many matches while it was Boy's third defeat in a row.
