KABUL. June 5: Afghan security forces have rescued unharmed an Iranian diplomat abducted here four days earlier by unidentified gunmen, official and diplomatic sources said Sunday. Mahdi Mashaeknhl. 31. was grabbed by two armed Afghans while driving in his car through Kanbul's western residential district of Khushall Khan Mina on Wednesday, reports AFP

UN cancels truce talks on Bosnia

GENEVA. June 5: The United Nations on Sunday gave up a four-day attempt to begin cease-fire talks between Bosnian Serbs and the Bosnian government after the government boycotted the negotiations, saying Serbs had not left Gorazde. UN spokesman Michael Williams said Bosnian Vice-President Ejup Ganic was not convinced by the peacekeepers' assessment that a UN exclusion zone around the eastern Muslim enclave of Gorazde was clear of armed Serbs, reports AP
