Local people said, various crimes are rampant and the peace loving people have been passing their days amid fear and panic

der. gambling and other antisocial activities have Increased In the district during the period.

The worst affected thanas are: Sadar. Karimganj, Bharab. Katiadl, Pakundia. Hossainpur and Bajltpur.

The residents of these thanas alleged that the law enforcing agencies usually play silent or mysterious role in most of the incidents and people are losing confidence In them.

The police said due to inadequate staff, vehicles and hazardous communication system they cannot combat the growing crimes adding that many crimes are not even registered by the concerned people for which action cannot be taken.
