Bangladesh Sangbadpatra Parishad (BSP) has urged the advertising agencies to pay off their outstanding bills to help run the newspapers, reports UNB.

In a statement yesterday. BSP President Kazi Shahed Ahmed said that the non-payment of a large number of ad bills for long had posed a threat to the existence of the newspaper industry.

The newspapers are facing manifold problems, including tne newsprint crisis that forces the owners to purchase newsprint from the market at an exorbitant price just to prop up the industry. he said.

The BSP President also pointed to the maldistribution of the government advertisements and said most newspapers were being deprived of their due economic cooperation from the government.

He assured the advertising agencies of BSP's allout coop eration in realising their arrears from the advertisers.
