KISHOREGANJ. Mar: 2 The hats and bazars in almost all the thanas of the district are in pitiable condition, causing immense sufferings to the people for quite a long time, reports UNB.

Lack of proper maintenance and negligence by the authorities concerned is the main reason behind it. it is alleged.

Most of the markets came into being at local initiatives, but these have not been expanded proportionately according to the growing population

Local people alleged that not a single market has drainage facilities. AU the markets lack latrines and urinals. In the rainy season, the situation worsens, submerging most of the places.

Filths and garbages are pilled up hither and thither, emitting bad odour and threatening public health. Absence of pure drinking water facilities in the markets is an added problem, they added.

Shopping of different com-rnoditles on the adjacent roads and lanes is a regular feature. Congested places for selling fish, vegetables and other commodities and extortion of lolls by ijaradars have multiplied the difficulties of both sellers and buyers, local people said.

They urged the authorities

to redress people's sufferings Immediately.

Another report says: Massive private tuition practice on commercial basis tn the district and thana headquarters is hampering the mental development of the students.

Most of Hie teachers of both the government and non-gov eminent educational institution* are engaged in private tuition and they halBly discharge their duties sincerely in the classrooms.

The teachers Impart coach ing to students In batches to earn extra-income which af fects the normal academic ac tivltles. they added

Students from the middle and poor class families are the worst sufferers as they can not afford to maintain a private tutor. Some science students al leged that it has become Impossible to do better results in the examination* without the help of private tutors.

Favouritism Is shown in examination results of students by private tutors, it is alleged

"The private tuition practice has become so imperative that without it no student can do good results in the examination and the guardians are compelled to send their kids to the private tutors despite having economic crisis.' said a guardian.
