The draw for the tennis competition in the sixth South Asian Federation (SAF) Games will be held on December 18. officials said here yesterday, reports BSS

Joint secretary of Bangladesh Tennis Federation and SAF Games tennis tournament director Syed Wahid in a press briefing at the National Sports Council.' said tournament referee Hasikawa of Japan and chair umpire Zakaria Talib of Singapore will arrive In the capital on December 17 and they will conduct the draw for .the tournament in presence of the officials of the participating countries.

There will be seven golds at stake. The events are: men's and women's team events, men’s and women's singles and doubles, and mixed doubles.

India will field ranked play ers like Ramesh Krishnan, national runner-up Vasudevan Reddy. National champion Asif •Ismail has not been Included in the Indian team.

Shovon Jamaly. Hira Lal. Faisal S Huq. Sk Moinuddin Jhelan. Nawaz Amin Rumon and Shamirp Ahsan Rony will represent Bangladesh in then s group.

In the women s group. Shannin Siddlque Sumi, Hosne Ara Begum Rina. Shathy > Sarkar. Yasmin Ahmed Urmi.

Khaleda Fauria Ta si I ma Khatun and Raushin Kabir Mitu lead the Bangladesh challenge.

SAF VEHICLES

Around 200 vehicles would be arranged for the transport of the officials, athletes, delegates of the sixth South Asian Federation (SAF) Games.

Speaking at a press briefing in Dhaka yesterday, secretary of the Games transport committee Major Imroze Ahmed said the transport service would be available from December 18 onward.

He said. "We have arranged transports for an'estimated 1300 athletes, officials and VIPs as well as technical delegates ."

Forty microbuses would be procured from different corpo rations and banks while 50 good quality buses would be collected from the Bangladesh Bus Truck Owners Association and Dhaka ■ Bus Owners Association, he said.

The remaining transports would be taken on rent from private owners

RATE OF TICKETS

Meanwhile, the organisers have reportedly fixed the rates of season and dally tiokets for different disciplines as well as the opening and closing ceremonies. of the week long sport ing spectacle. Rate of gallery tickets for the ceremonies only has been fixed at Taka 50

In football. Taka 20 has been fixed up to the final for the galleries while the changed rate for the final will be Taka 30.

For other games including the athletics competition, the rate has been fixed at Taka five.

Tickets will be on sale from December 13 at different city branches of Agrani Bank.
