Oct9:; A three-month long training course on sewing begins here Saturday at Ansar Academy Garments Complex, reports UNB, A total of 150 women trainees from 64 districts are participating in the course which Included poultry rearing, vegetable cultivation, sewing and measurement of cloths.

Alhaj M Sulaiman, Commandant, Ansar Academy, urged in his inaugural speech to the participants as chief guest that they would receive the training for the benefit of their personal life which will help bring financial supj|prt to their family.

Meeting on test relief coordination

Oct9 : A meeting of the district test relief coordination committee was held Sunday at Narail with Agriculture and Irrigation Minister M Majid-Ul-Haq in the chair, reports UNB.

Some 142 development projects were submitted at the meeting by the local district and thana administration for approval.

The meeting discussed projects and sanctioned 230 metric tons of wheat under the food for work programme.

The wheat would be utilised for renovation and development of schools, madrashas and feeder roads in the rural areas.

Sharif Khashruzzaman MP. Dhirendra Nath Saha MP, and Shamsunnahar Ahmed MP were present.

Earlier, the Irrigation Minister alongwith the members of site selection committee selected the sites of proposed Narail district Jail at Borashula and the Narail pourashava.

Majid-Ul-Haq said the Jail would be provided with modern facilities.

‘Pragmatic plan taken up to protect

children’s right’

Oct 9: Posts and Telecommunications Minister TariquT Islam said that the present, government had taken up pragmatic programmes for the implementation of UN charter for the protection of the right of the children, says BSS.

The per capita allotment for the subsistence of the orphan children was made more than double, he said, pie allotment has been enhanced from Taka 340 to Taka 720 per month, an official handout said.

Oct 9 : About 26,000 children in six thanas of the district are being deprived of primary education due to acute poverty, reports UNB.

Guardians of the children are forced to engage them in works for earning their livelihood.

According to official sources, there are about 1,96,700 school-going children in the district and most of them are from poor families.

There are about 576 government primary schools. 228 registered primary schools. 477 madrashas and five kindar-garten schools in the district. About 6.193 teachers are employed in these educational institutions.
