Vohra kept mum on questions put to him on the outcome of the talks as well as on other contentious issues between the two closest neighbours

Azimuddin. however, said the two sides had discussed all issues satisfactorily The Indian side has appreciated measures taken by Bangladesh to resolve the issues."

The meeting also discussed other transborder problems. Including smuggling and immigration issues

It dealt with problems arising out of the continued pushing of Bengali speaking Indian citizens into Bangladesh.

The meeting's failure in fixing a repatriation date dlsap-

pointed observers here when a congenial atmosphere is prevailing in the Chittagong Hill Tracts for the tribals to return to their homeland with all preparations finalised to receive and rehabilitate them with full security, rights and dignity.

About 29.000 Bangladeshi tribesmen have crossed into the eastern Indian state of Tripura amidst armed Insurgency by the Shantlbahinl.

The state was set for an official start of repatriation of the refugees on June 8. but it could not take off as the tribal Refugee Welfare Association put up new conditions at the eleventh hour.
