Hasina returns

Awami League Chief and Leader of the Opposition in the Jatlya Sangsad Sheikh Hasina returned home yesterday after treatment for typhoid.

She went to Singapore on September 19 for treatment at the National University Hos-pital.

On her return. Hasina was received at the Zia International Airport by the party central leaders as well as leaders of the front organisations of the Awami League.

In a statement, the Awami League president expressed her gratitude to all for praying for her quick recovery.

6 die of diarrhoea in Sirajganj

SIRAJGANJ. Oct 9: Diarrhoea claimed at least six lives and attacked 150 people in three thanas of the district during the last 24 hours, official sources said. The victims are Shah Alam. 6. Amlnul Islam. 7, and Amina, 25, of Ghara in Kazlpur thana. Kalman. 25. and Zarina. 30. of Chalitapur in RaiganJ thana and Shahldul, 18 months, of Badungl in Shah-Jadpur thana. The Civil Surgeon office confirmed the deaths saying 14 people died out of 1,591 people attacked in 5 thanas by the water-borne disease in last one month, reports UNB.

Rohingyas go home

COX'S BAZAR. Oct 9: A group of 694 Rohingya refugees have been repatriated to Myanmar this morning. They left Rongikhall. Nayapara and Jummapara transit camps. The refugees were received by the Myanmar Immigration officials at Kaningchang reception centre. With this the total number of returnees stands at 40.510.
