CHITTAGONG, Sept 8: A sudden reshuffle was made here In the Chittagong Metropolitan Police administration in a bid to curb growing crime In the city.

Under the administrative changes. Deputy Police Commissioner (North) Abdur Rouf has been posted here as DC (Port) and the present DC (Port) Gazi Abdur Rahman has been transferred to the Traffic Division to replace DC (Traffic) Sultan Ahmed who has been posted as DC (North).

Besides, the Offlcer-ln-charge (OC) of Panchlaish Thana Kazt Shahbuddln has been transferred to the Detective Branch while Police Inspector of DB S M Sham-suzzaman has been appointed OC of Panchlaish.

The OC of Doublemooring Thana Rabiul Hossain has been placed In the city Special Branch white Police Inspector Delwar I losaatn of DB has been made OC of Doublemooring Thana.

This reshuffle within the CMP was done by Police Commissioner Osman AH Khan who took over a few months back.

Meanwhile, under a directive of the Inspector General of Police (IG). the Deputy Police Commissioner (DC) of Riot Division Khadem Hossain has been transferred from the CMP to the Ministry of Establishment and AC Salful Islam has been transferred to Netrokona and AC (Traffic) Abul Kalam Azad to Jessore.

Talking to this correspondent today, the Commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police Osman All Khan said the changes In the CMP administration have been brought about with a view to Improving the law and order situation tn this city.

However, sources said the recent rise In crime here had forced the authorities to go for this drastic reshuffle In the police administration here. But the CMP Commissioner claimed the crime rate had marked a decline compared to that of the previous year.
