The government has decided to constliute a national committee for reforms and development of the country's madrassah education suiting the needs of the time, reports UNB.

The announcement came from Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia during a represen tattves conference of the Bang ladesh Madraaaah Teachers' Association at Sugandha laat night.

The Prime Minister also assured of steps to provide facilities similar to those for private primary schools to one Ibteda-e-Madrassah In each union of the country.

"Madrassah education will run alongside primary education". Begum Zia said. We have to give Importance to the Improvement of education to ensure progress and prosperity of ^BciHcZ religious education, she pointed out, "We need modern and advanced education to keep pace with the fastmoving world."

Begum Zia also hit out at religion-based politics, saying some parties were doing politics by capitalising on religion and creating Indiscipline In national life. "We have to be vigilant against those Involved in poll tics of terrorism In the name of religion." she told the madrassah teachers without specifying any particular quarter.

Madrassah teachers can play an effective rote through motivation against those trying to misguide common people In the name of religion, the Prime Minister said. She also assured to solve, in phases, various problems of the madrassah teachers .

Begum Zia also assured that the government was actively considering Inclusion of one Ibteda-e-madrassah In the government's Food-for-Educatton Programme in the unions where the programme has been under taken.
