BARISAL Sept 8: A Joint meeting of the Implementation committees for Compulsory Primary Education Programme (CPEP) In Barisal division was held here at the Aswlni Kumar Town Hall on Tuesday, reports BSS.

Presided over by Kazi Raklbuddln Ahmed. Secretary, Primary and Mass Education Department, the meeting was attended among others by Principal Md Eunus Khan, State Minister for Education. Mosarraf Hossain Shahjahan, State Minister for Flood Control and Water Resources. Majlbur Rahman Sarwar MP, Mosarraf Hossain MonJu MP. M A Rashid Divisional Commissioner, Barisal and Abdus Sobhan. The meeting discussed various problems related to the admission and attendance of children in various schools under Barisal division.

The education officers of the districts were stated to have said that 9,66,988 children in 6-11 year age group were admitted to schools of the division during the current year. The total number of children in stx districts under the division Is 11 94.467 A total of 2,27.479 children could not be brought under the scheme on account of various problems of the guardians including pecuniary condition, the sources satd

3,309 government primary schools, 1,037 registered primary schools, 1,755 madrashas, 31, KG. schools.

852 other primary schools. 80 government and 60 non-gov-ernment mass education centres and 70 satellite schools of Barisal. JhalakatL Plrojpur. Bhola, Patuakhali and Barguna districts.

The meeting was told that 3.309 primary school committees. 993 wards committees, 331 union committees, 39 paura committees and 38 thana committees have been formed to Implement the programme.

rated the programme at the RaJar Char Government Primary School under Barisal sadar thana on Sunday.

Bisha-rkandt union of Banaripara thana, Durgapasha union of BakergonJ thana Jalla union of Wazlrpur thana, and Railhar union of Agailjhara thana have been brought under Food for Education Programme in the district in the first phase .
