Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) Mayor Mirza Abbas yesterday said the corporation was considering handing over some of Its responsibilities including clearance of garbage to the private sector in phases, reports BSS.

Addressing a conference of the officers and staff of the DCC at Satdabad In Dhaka Mirza Abbas said this would be done without declaring any employee of the corporation as surplus.

He said this would create competition to increase the standard of service where effi-

ciency and experience would be given preference.

He urged the officers and employees of the DCC to protect Its assets and goods from wastage and theft and ensure their best utilisation.

Presided over by the president of employees union Amiruzzaman the meeting was addressed by chief engineer of the corporation Qamruzzaman Mahmood, secretary in-charge Salahuddtn Mia and general secretary of the union Shamsul Huq Bhuiyan.
