Doctors of different city hospitals and clinics observed a 3-hour token strike yesterday at the call of the Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) protesting the brutal murder of a colleague. reports UNB.

Dr Rafiqul Islam. 32. was beaten to death In Farmgate area by a group of hawkers Tuesday night.

The doctors brought out a silent procession in the city and submitted a memorandum to Home Minister Abdul Malin Chowdhury demanding arrest and trial of the killers of Dr Islam. A delegation o( the BMA led by Its President Dr M A Majed handed over the memorandum Io the Home Minister.

BMA in its memorandum threatened to go for a movement if the killers were not arrested within a week.

Earlier, leaders of the association at a rally at Battala of the PO Hospital urged the political parties to form an all-party resistance committee against terrorism and build up a social movement to check violence.

Presided over by Dr Majed the rally was addressed, among others, by BMA leaders Dr Gazi Abdul Huq,, Dr Rafiq Chowdhury. Dr Syed Moinul Hasan Sadiq. Dr Mushtaq Hossain. Dr Shahid Hasan and Dr AKM Azizuj Huq.
