BRISBANE, Australia. July 6: Repatriated Australian fast bowler Craig McDermott undergoes another unrelated operation later this week but expects to be fully fit for the start of the domestic Sheffield Shield cricket competition in October, reports AFP.

McDermott returned here today after convalescing from surgery for a twisted bowel during the second Lord's Test which forced him home from Australia's Ashes cricket tour of England.

The Queensland paceman said he is .scheduled to have an operation on a groin injury in Sydney on Friday.

The groin surgery is a run of the mill operation," said McDermott. "It's a two or three week thing to get over and the idea was to get it done while I recuperate from the stomach operation."

McDermott said he plans to resume light training in about three weeks before stepping up his fitness level at a surfing ironman training camp in September.
