Joint Editor of the Dally Al Amin and former President of Rajshahi Union of Journalists (RUJ) Ranjan Kishore Chowdhury was cremated yesterday afternoon at Postagola Cremation Centre, reports BSS.

Chowdhury, who also served tn a number of other newspapers including the Purbodesh, the Rajshahi Barta, the Janata and the Dally Rupall, died of a heart attack Friday.

A large number of Journalists, admirers, relatives and community leaders Including Maj General (Rtd) CR Dutta and Dr Nimchandra Bhaumik were present at the cremation centre to pay their last respect to this dedicated Journalist.

In the morning, the body of the deceased was taken to the National Press Club where a large number of his professional colleagues including senior Journalists paid their respect to him.

In the evening a condolence meeting was held at the news room of the Daily Al-Amln with News Editor Sudhamony Kar in the chair. Among others, Amcna Newajt, Mufdl Ahmed, Sad Bln Rabbi, Liton Halder, Mozammel Mazumder and Salful Islam spoke on the occasion.

The meeting paid tributes to Chowdhury and recalled his contributions to the profession. The meeting conveyed heartfelt sympathy to the members of the bereaved family and prayed for the salvation of the departed soul.
