Confce on RF, RHD concludes

The second national scientific conference on Rheumatic Fever and Rheumatic Heart Disease (RF and RHD) con-; eluded here Monday with rec-j ommendations on future I course of preventing these diseases, reports BSS.

The recommendation session chaired by Brig (Retd) Prof A Malik,was actively participated by professional leaders from cardiology, paediatrics, community medicine, pathology and health service administration. Three Japanese physicians associated with the pilot project for prevention and control of Rheumatic Fever and Rheumatic Heart Disease in Bangladesh participated.

The conference Inaugurated on Saturday by Health and Family Welfare Minister Chowdhury Kamal Ibne Yusuf, was attended by over two hundred physicians specializing in various branches of health care.

Prof K M H S Strajul Haque, project director of the pilot project presented a position paper titled "Prevention of RF and RHD: 'past, present and future."

The conference was organised by the Ministry of Health with support and cooperation from the government of Japan.
