A court yesterday rejected two criminal cases filed by the Ghatak-Dalal Nirmul Committee against senior police dfficials as the petitioners had no prior sanction of the government to prosecute public servants for action committed while on duty, reports UNB.

The Nirmul Committee, in its petition, had accused three city police officials of beating and manhandling Jahanara Imam, Abdur Razzaque. MP and others, causing serious physical Injuries to them on March 26 and 28.

Senior"Asstt Police Commissioner (Prosecution) Shafful Islam later filed a petition saying the Nirmul Committee cases were not maintainable under Section 132 and 197 of the Code of Criminal Pro cedure.
