BRAHMANBAR1A, May 4: Acting on secret information, a special squad of BDR 32 Bat-talldn in two separate raid, recovered Indian smuggled goods worth about Taka 13 lakh from Bhatshala area of Sadar thana and Nabinagar thana area of the district recently.

Recovered goods include 385 prices of Indian sarees, 362 meters of curtain clothes, 348 meters velvet clothes and other goods.

Two-day long zila ’Rukun’ conference of Jamat-e-Islaml held at the Al-Fesanl auditorium of the town recently.

Principal Kazi Nazrul Islam Khadem Zila Amir of Jamat-e-Islaml presided over the conference while professor Hab-ibur Rahman, central Organizing Secretary was present as chief guest.

It was addressed among others by General Secretary Zila unit Rustom Ali Sarker, Publicity Secretary Sheikh Shahtdui ISlam and Baitulmal Secretary Mohd. Musharraf Hussain.

AL unit meet held

The unit meeting of the Sadar thana Awami League held at the Ukil Library Hall on April 30.

In the meeting, president zila Awami League Ali Azam Bhuiyan was present as chief guest while General Secretary Zila Awami League Lutful Hal Sacchu and Freedom Fighter Abdul Quddus Makhan were present as special guest. 10 hurt in road mishap

Ten persons were Injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway at Bariora under Sadar thana of the district recently.

The mishap occurred when the driver of a Dhaka bound coach lost control and collided with a roadside tree. Seven persons including driver Abdul Mannan (55) of the coach were admitted in the Sadar hospital.

300 gms ganja recovered

Narcotics Control Inspector of Brahmanbaria Circle Uaquat Ullah Chowdhury In a raid, recovered 300 grams of ganja from village Charchartala un- : der Ashuganj thana of the district recently.

In this connection, a departmental case has been filed against Shafiqul Mlah.

7 wanted accused naHad

Police arrested seven wanted accused from village Ras-ulpur under Chandura Union Parishad of the district recently.

A police party led by SubInspector Subash Sha ha raided the village Rasulpur and rounded them up.

SSC candidate commit* suicide

One Abdul Quddua (20) a SSC candidate, son of Abdul Alim of village Noabadi under Sadar thana of the district committed suicide by taking poison recently.
