The "Bangla Chaturdash Satabdi Purtl Udjapan Jatlya Committee" at it* ftr*t meeting held here yesterday decided to observe the Bengali 1400th year through various programmes throughout the year, a press release of JASSAS said last night, reports BSS.

The meeting was presided over by the committee s Convenor Principal Dewan Mohammad Azraf and addressed, among others, by Chief Coordinator Zahid Hossain Chunnu, Joint Coordinators Abdul Hye Sikder and Emran Saleh Prince, Kazi Abul Kashem, Abdul Jabbar Khan. Dr Shamser All, Dr R A Gani, Dr Mohammad All, Prof Yazuddin Ahmad. Askar Ibne Shaikh. Sheikh Niamat All. Anju man Ara Begum, Khalrul Kabir Kkokan, Fakir Ashraf, Dr Golam Saklaln, Hasan Abdul Qufyyum, A K M Ruhul Amin and Dilara Zaman.

The year long programmes approved by the committee in its first meeting are: colourful rally in the morning of first Batsakh with placards bearing photographs and messages of sagacious personalities, construction of gates after the names of memorable personal-

ities of the national history, holding seminars on history, tradition, politics, liberation struggle, science and technology. economics, art and culture, sport* and folk art, *tu-dent movement of 100 years, seven-day drama, film, Jatra and poetry recitation, sevenday musical and dance programme, ctvlc reception to the respectable personalities, construction of the memorial gate to welcome the new Bengali year and seven-day mela and crafts exhibition.
