Government ha* aet up a new organization 'Disaster Management Bureau under the Ministry of Relief to gear up the dlsasler management tn the country, reports UNB

Headed by a Director-General, the Bureau will begin Its activities soon

This was disclosed yesterday at a review meeting of the overall activities of the Ministry of Relief, held at It* conference room with Slate Minister for Relief Lutfur Rahman Khan in the chair

The new Bureau will play a vital role to (trengthen and gearing up the diaaater man agement during pre and post disaster as well as In the dtsas ter period.

It will also create awareness among the people about diaaater and take necessary precau tlonary measure* when needed, the meeting was informed. The Bureau will take all necessary measure* In post disaster relief operations.

The meeting also disclosed that ao far a total of 4 8 lakh metric tons of wheat has been distributed under Food for Work programme during the current fiscal year During the same period about 44 lakh metric tons of wheat had also been distributed for Test Relief Programme the meet Ing added
