BCS (Admn) get-together A cultural programme and get-together was held by the women members of the BCS (Admn) cadre on the occasion of the decade of women's at the BCS (Admn) academy here yesterday.

A number of retired secretaries and high officials attended the function.

Assoc team meets Biswas A 22-member delegation of the Barisal Divisional Welfare Association called on President Abdur Rahman Biswas at Bangabhaban yesterday, reports UNB.

Led by Shah Mofiz Ahmed, members of the delegation expressed their gratitude to President Biswas and Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia for establishing a new division with Barisal as its headquarters.

They submitted a memorandum containing some demands for over all development of the areas under the new division. Biswas gave them a patient hearing and assured to look to their demands sympathetically.

They apprised the President of their various programmes and sought hts support for expansion of their ac tivities.

Forty women Joined in the BCS (Admn) cadre on the April 3, 1983. The number of women members in this cadre rose to 245.

Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Jele Dal Friday called upon the government to strengthen the activities of river police to protect the life and property of the fishermen In the face of growing attacks by the pirates.

In a statement here, the Joint Convenor Nazrul Islam expressed his deep concern over the recent incidents of piracy on fishermen engaged in fishing at the Bay of Bengal and offshore areas.
