By Staff Correspondent The sixth meeting of the Bangladesh-Japan Joint Committee for Commercial and Economic Cooperation will be held In Dhaka at the Hotel Sonargaon Monday.

A 39-member Japanese delegation comprising businessmen, observers and others led by Klkuo Ikeda, President. Japan-Bangladesh Joint Committee for Commercial and Economic Cooperation, will arrive here today (Sunday)

According to sources, Bangladeshi entrepreneurs will propose to the Japanese businessmen for investment tn power and telecommunication and gas based industrial sectors which were recently opened up for private invest ment.

However, they said the meeting will be held mainly to create a congenial environment for Japanese investors and traders here.

During its five-day stay in Bangladesh. the Japanese delegation will visit Chittagong Export Processing Zone. Dhaka Export Processing Zone and will also hold meeting with Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Meanwhile, the inaugural ' session of the meeting of the Joint Committee will be opened by Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

The 66-member Bangladeshi team led by the President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI). Mahbu-bur Rahman will hold four sessions with the visiting Japanese delegation.

During the sessions, papers will be presented on the economic realities and Investment environment of Bangladesh by different chambers presidents, and experts from both the del egatlons

On April 7, an agreed minutes of ihe sessions will be signed by both the sides

During Its stay 1n Bangladesh, the Japanese del , e gal ion will also meet the Pre sident. Industry Minister, P1a nnlng Minister and the Fore Ign Minister of Bangladesh.

Representatives of lop Japanese enterprises In Bang ladesh will also be present during the meetings.
