Bangladesh Bank has clarl fled that normal functioning of Al Baraka Bank In the country will not be affected as a result of discontinuing of operations of another bank with similar name tn London, reports UNB.

A Bangladesh Bank press release Issued yesterday said the Al Baraka Bank in Bangladesh has no connection with A) Baraka International Bank Limited in London which has decided to suspend its operations on June 30. 1993 after full payment to all depositors as It Is not possible to continue Its operation on Islamic Shariah as an interest free bank.

Bangladesh government, local sponsors and the general public are holding shares of the Al Baraka Bank in Bangladesh which is incorporated here with its head office in Dhaka.

On the other hand. Al Baraka International Bank Limited. London was established as a separate bank in UK with 100 per cent ownership by Al Baraka-Dallah Group of Saudi Arabia

The Bangladesh Bank assured that the Al Baraka Bank in Bangladesh has been under complete supervision of the country's central bank, operating its usual functions and there is no reason of anxiety among its depositors.
