GA1BANDHA. Mar 2: Farmers of the district have been facing trouble in cultivating Rabi crop during this current season for want of adequate bank loans

Strict formalities and ha rassment are creating hin-dranccs to agriculture credit. Marginal farmers are the most affected as their arc unable to fulfil terms and conditions for getting loans.

Five commercial banks of the district undertook a massive programme to disburse agriculture loan of Taka six crore 39 lakh 18 thousand

Of the total Taka three crore 29 lakh 75 thousand fixed for Boro, Taka 80 lakh 10

thousand for wheat. Taka one crore 55 lakh 15 thousand for potato and Taka 74 lakh 18 thousand for some others crops cultivation.

The banks disbursed only Taka 12 lakh 97 thousand for wheat, Taka 41 lakh 86 thou sand for potato. Taka 34 lakh for Boro and Taka 46 lakh 44 thousand for other crops As a result. Taka four crore 84 lakh three thousand still lying with the banks

During the period, five commercial banks have dis bursed only one fifth of total allocation.

According to sources, the government baa written off the loan upto Taka 5,000 and

these borrowers are eligible lb get fresh loan. Bui the have not yet Implemented the procedure. The banks are not extending any further loans to those farmers.

The farmers of the area could not get fair price of their last Boro and Aman crops who need agriculture loan for cultivation Rabi crops.
