FARIDPUR, Mar 2: Some members of an agency allegedly snatched 59 cuttle of traders and farmers on way lo a hat in Madhukhall thana and feasted with some of them, reports UNB.

According lo a ease fifed with police on February 25. some small traders and farm ers of Uzandior, Ghopghat. Atapur. Gopaldi and Chhoto Gopaldi villages were going to Tepakhola hat. the largest ent tie.market in the area, to sell their cattle on February 22.

They were halted by some armed members of that agency near Arkandt Bridge on the Kamarkhali-Faridpur highway. When asked for. they showed documents lo the agency men to prove that their cattle were not Indian.

Bui the group, according lo the allegation, became angry and Injured Shahadat of

Chhoto Gopaldi. Golam liasui of Ghopghat and Mahiuddln of l’alkpara by beating them up with ri Debutte.

They then took away 50 na live’ cattfeheads of the small cattle traders and nine of the farmers worth some Tk 232.400. according lo the HR

Some traders and farmers went to the barracks of the agency in Kushtta and found three of their cattle allegedly slaughtered for a feast. However. the farmers got back (Ive different cattle instead of their ones.

Meanwhile, local MP MA Rouf Mia and former MP Shah Mohammad Abu Zafar condemned the ac t and demanded proper inquiry Into the matter.

They also demanded punitive action against those in votved and adequate compen satton for the affected farmers and cattle traders.
