NEW DELHI, Mar 2: Some 1OO Sikh militants, Including the younger brother of a rebel leader killed two days ago surrendered to the police in the northern Indian state of Punjab on Tuesday, reports AFP.

The Sikh separatists laid down an impressive array of weaponry before Punjab's Director General of Police Kanwar Pla Singh Gill at a ceremony in Batala town, the Press Trust of India (PT1) re-

ported.

The surrendered arms included two machine guns, eight AK-47 rifles, three selfloading rifles, one rocket launcher, five revolvers and pistols and. explosives, the news agency said.

A police spokesman said 80 of the rebels belonged to the Babbar Khalsa International, the Khalistan Commando Force and the BhtndrAwale Tigers Force of Khalistan (BTFK).

Those who surrendered Included Narlnder Singh, brother of BTFK leader Gurbachan Singh Manochahal, the most wanted Sikh militant who was shot dead by the Punjab police on Sunday.

India security forces have taken the upper hand In recent months in their campaign to crush the bloody Sikh milltant campaign for an Independent homeland called Kha-llstan (land of the Pure) in I’unjab.

Meanwhile PTI adds, India today warned Pakistan that its attempt to introduce a resolution on Kashmir in the Human Right* Commission at Geneva would only serve to distance the prospects of a fruitful bilateral dialogue.

India's strong reaction follows reports that Pakistan would try to push through a resolution at the Commission meeting on March 8.

Apart from recalling previous UN Security Council Resolutions on Kashmir, the Pakistani resolution would recommend a fact-finding mission to Jammu and Kashmir to investigate and report on the human rights situation there.

An External Affairs Ministry spokesman said India had taken a firm stand and in formed all 53-member countries that this was totally unacceptable to us and we are opposing introduction of the resolution.

In the event of a remote possibility that such a resolution Is tabled and voted in favour. India would not accept it. the spokesman said

Janardhan Reddy, former Andhra Chief Minister, is leading India's delegation to the Commission for Human Rights which is currently in session at Geneva.

Pakistan is attempting to place the situation in Jammu and Kashmir on the agenda of the Commission.
