The Rajdhanl Un nay an Kartipakkya (Rajuk) has initiated process to allot residential plots to 222 out of 508 applicants who had applied for plots tn Uttara Model Town In 1986, Works Minister Barris ter RafiquI Islam Miah told the Jatiya Sangsad yesterday, reports BSS

Making a statement he said 6171 applications were received for plots In Uttara following newspapers advertisements in 1986 and 4517 were given the plots.

Of the remaining 1654, the minister said, 1 146 applicants had withdrawn their deposit money, leaving the cases of 508 under examination of the authorities.

He said finalisation on the allotment of plots to these 508 applicants was somewhat complex task because their applications lacked necessary papers.

The situation was made difficult by a previous government which had announced the names of the allottees in newspapers without making necessary provisions for the plots and their development, he said.

The minister said a lot of work had to be done by this government about the applications of remaining 508 persons and finally 222 have now been chosen for allotment of the plots.

The Rajuk had also taken steps to return the deposit money of those who did not get the plots out of these 508 applicants, he said.
