SYLHET. Feb 1: A massive programme has been taken to disburse Taka 4.08,91.000 among the farmers during the current winter season tn Sylhet district as short-term loans.

According to an official source, the loans would be given with a view to helping the farmers tn cultivating different rabl crops like trri-boro wheat. potato, winter vegeta Mes and others in all the 11 thanas of Sylhet district during the season The loans would be given in the form of seeds, fertilizers. Insecticides and In cash, the source said

Of the total, Sonali Bank will disburse Taka 1,19.91,000 for boro and Taka 15,88,000 for other rabl crops. Rupall Bank will disburse Taka 14,00,000 for boro and Taka 5.45.000 for other rabl crops, while Janata Bank will give an amount of Taka 25.00.000 for boro and Taka 12.00,000 for other rabl crops and Agrani Bank will disburse Taka 1,06,00,000 for boro and Taka 50,65,000 for the other rabl crops. The Krlshi Bank will also disburse Taka 1,45,00,000 for boro and Taka 10,00.000 for the other rabl crops, the source added.

The loan distribution under the special agricultural credit programme had began for November 15 ■ and it would continue till March 15. the source said.

It may be stated here that an extensive programme had been taken up for cultivation of the different crops under the Intensive rabl crops cultivation programme’ during the current season tn all the 11 thanas of Sylhet district. The District Agricultural Extension Department had taken up van ous measures to make the pro gramme a success.
