Syed Mohammad Mohsin, contesting the Mirpur by-election on the BNP ticket, hopes tomorrow's balloting takes place peacefully and neutrally.

Talking to The Daily Star at his Mirpur residence yesterday, Mohsin confidently said, "BNP’s victory in the by-poll is inevitable.”

Asked about the other contestants, Mohsin, educated in the United States, replied, To nic all the candidates are equally respectable and prospective. But Kamal Majumder of the Awa ml League is working as hard as 1".

On his expectations over the by-election result, a hesitant Mohsin said that he might win by 10,000 to 15,000 votes.

Although stray incidents of violence had occurred during the campaign, the BNP nominee said that all concerned were sincere about a free and fair vote tomorrow.

Mohsin also claimed that his candidature was highly appreciated by all. especially the educated voters.

He said that he had appealed to voters of all strata during the campaign.

Apart from his commitments to developing the locality and resolving the local problems, Mohsin intends to work to bring qualitative changes in national politics by encouraging qualified persons to do politics.

Replying to a query, the BNP aspirant for the Dhaka-11 parliamentary seat said, "I am sure that all my election pledges will be materialised as the Ministers have already committed to doing so and steps have meantime been taken in this regard."

When asked, the former leader of Chhatra Dal, BNP's stpdent wing, said that his father (SA Khaleq) had a good reputation In the area and that their family was well accepted by the locals. "So, my father's previous Involvement in JP politics won't matter at all. He abandoned the party In 1990." he said.

If elected. Mohsin said, he would work to establish more industries in Mlrpur, create lobs which tn turn would help lessen terrorism.

The Director of three factories Mohsin was the founder convenor of the Chhatra Dal, Dhaka College and served the organiation’s branch tn Oklahoma and Texas, USA.
