Bangladesh Biman completed their preliminary engagements of the 4th Damal Summer cricket

tournament with second successive win against Public Works Depart ment at the Dhanmondl Cricket Stadium yesterday

Former Damal champion*, aided by fine bowling performance* by Babul and Azhar, beat PWD by 72 runs to go to the second round of the competition

Batting first Biman were given a solid start with Rupam and Selim putting on 78 runs before Rupom was stumped off off spinner Fazlu.

Opener Mahbubur Rahman Selim topscored with 34 followed by Zakaria (28). Rupom (24) and Shanu (22).

Although Saheen fell for a blob Biman skipper Enamul Huq Moni hammered a quick-fire unbeaten 30, as hfs side finally totalled 188 for five wickets, off 43 over. Anwar was the most successful bowler taking two for 28. Fazlu bagged two for 46. Shamim picked up one for 24.

Biman medium pacer Babul snuffed out any remote chance of PWD making a match of it with a deadly spell with the new ball. The newly recruit medium pacer devoured the cream of PWD batting with a

spell of three for 14 off Just seven overs.

Kamrul In the PWD lower order offered some inconsequential resistance with an innings of 39 before being caught off spinner Anwarul Amin Azhar who went on to pick up two more wickets.

Opener Ujjal scored 13 while Anwar and Shamim made 1 1 and 10 respectively.

Anwarul Amin Azhar, like teammate Babul, had a great day with the ball bagging three wickets for 22. Paplu, Rupam and Shanu claimed one each.
