SATKHIRA. Dec 11 : A total of 1,02041 acres of land will be brought under boro paddy, mustard, wheat, potato and sugarcane cultivation In seven upaziias of the district during the current dry season

Of the total, boro paddy will be cultivated in 85,000 acres, wheat In 3,212 acres, potato In 4.942 acres, mustard In 5,997 acres and sugarcane tn 2,890 acres.

The upaziias of the district are : Satkhira Sadar. Kalaroa. Tala. Debhata. KaliganJ. Shamnagar and Assassuni.

Boro paddy

Of the total lands. 37.200 acres will be cultivated In Satkhira Sadar. 18.000 acres in Kalaroa. 11,800 acres in Tala. 5.700 acres in Debhata. 6.100 acres In KaliganJ. 4.200 acres in Assassuni and 2000 acres in Shamnagar upazila

A total of 1.57.208 metric tons of boro paddy Is expected to be produced in the district.

Wheat

One thousand acres of land will be brought under wheat cultivation in Satkhira Sadar. 100 acres each in Debhata and KaliganJ. 40 acres in Assassuni and 50 acres tn Shamnagar 922 acres tn Kalaroa and 1000 acres tn Tala upazila.

The wheat production target has been fixed at 2561 metric tons.

Ifotato

Upazila wise breakup of the cultivation is : Satkhira Sadar 1400, acres. Kalaroa-500 acres. Tala-1600 acres. Debhata-235 acres. KaliganJ 650 acres. Assassuni-150 acres, and Shamnagar upazila 227 acres

According to Agricultural Extension Department. 3707 acres of land will be brought under High Yielding Variety and the rest 1235 acres under focal variety.

A total of 20.000 metric tons of potato is likely to be produced tn the district during the current season

Mustard

One thousand six hundred twenty five acres will be cultivated In Sadar upazila. 2285 acres in Kalaroa. 1050 acres In Tala. 425 acres in Debhata. 200 acres In Kaligang. 205 acres tn Assassuni and 107 acres in Shamnagar

An Agricultural Department source said that 500 acres of land would be brought under High Yielding Variety and the rest 5497 acres under local variety.

A total of 1756 metric tons of mustard seeds is expected to be produced in the district during the current season.

« Sugarcane

Out of the total. 250 acres in Sadar upazila. 200 acres in Kalaroa. 2327 acres in Tala. 15 acres In Debhata. 50 acres In KaliganJ. 25 acres In Assassuni and 23 acres in Shamnagar upazila

A total of 58760 metric tons of sugarcane is likely to be produced during the season.

Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation will supply seeds, fertilizers pesticides and other necessary agricultural Inputs to the growers to make the programmes success.
