Government has decided to expand the existing TV transmission facilities In Chittagong by upgrading it into a fulfledged station with the addition of facilities for Independent programme and news production and transmission, reports BSS.

The decision was taken In an ECNEC meeting held yesterday with Finance Minister M Salfur Rahman In the chair.

The ECNEC also approved six projects costing Tk. 183.28 crore in the shipping and inland water transport sector.

The projects are: Rectification of defects of three dieselised passenger vessels, procurement of vessels and crafts, procurement of three hydrographic survey vessels. rehabilitation programme for losses and damage of BIWTA facilities caused by 1988 flood, procurement of

simulators and other training equipment for marine academy and establishment of seamen's training school.

Besides, the ECNEC also approved five other projects of health, youth and sports and LGRD sectors.
